Resume Word Cloud

See what your resume says about you
What is the point of the resume word cloud?

Word clouds allow you to see at a glance the relative frequency of words in a body of text. Big words jump out at you, visually indicating the dominant themes of the text.

This is handy for your resume, as you can quickly discover that you might be over- or under-emphasizing themes of your professional history.

Give it a try to see for yourself.

Do the largest words in your resume word cloud represent what you want a hiring manager to understand about you?

Can I make a word cloud from my LinkedIn profile?

Absolutely, and you should.

You just need to export your LinkedIn profile as a PDF, then upload that PDF above.

Here’s how:

  1. Note: This probably won’t work on your phone. It only works on the desktop version of LinkedIn’s website.
  2. Go to LinkedIn. If you’re not logged in, do so.
  3. You'll be directed to your feed.
  4. Click your profile photo to go to your own LinkedIn profile.
  5. Click More…, then Save to PDF. Save it to your desktop or phone.
  6. Now just drag that PDF file above or click the green button to upload it.

See below:

Is it safe to upload my resume to this site?

We don’t do anything with your resume other than process it for the purpose of displaying the word cloud. We don’t send it anywhere or share it with anyone.

The word placement algorithm was written by Jason Davies, who open-sourced the code under the name d3-cloud. It's a tricky algorithm, so thank you Jason for sharing it with the world.
